SysGRID: IEC 61850 and IEC 61499 Standard Based Engineering Tool for Smart Grid Automation Design
The so called Smart Grid is said to be distributed in nature with an accompanying control architecture which is made up of a heterogeneous network of controllers communicating in a peer-to-peer manner.

We present an architecture for accelerating the processing and execution of control commands in an ultrafast fiber placement robot. The system consists of a robotic arm designed by Coriolis Composites whose purpose is to move along a surface, on which composite fibers are deposed, via an independently controlled head.

The scope and responsibilities of control applications are increasing due to, for example, the emergence of industrial internet. To meet the challenge, model‐driven development techniques have been in active research in the application domain. Simulations that have been traditionally used in the domain, however, have not yet been sufficiently ...

Visualizing Errors and Inconsistencies in the DSML IEC 61499
Errors of textual programming languages are usually detected by the compiler. These errors are then visualized by the IDE and made available to the developer. This paper is intended to show a novel approach to also propagate errors in visual programming languages to the developer. We analyzed the visual block-based language of IEC 61499 and implemented

Identification and Evaluation of Pitfalls in the Migration From IEC 61131-3 to IEC 61499: A Review
The IEC 61131-3 standard was initially established to define a common software architecture and programming languages for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) produced by various manufacturers, leading to its widespread adoption since 1993.

A portability study of IEC 61499: Semantics and tools
The second edition of the IEC 61499 standard aims to clarify the interpretation ambiguities of function block's execution semantics. This resolves the pivotal issue of realizing portable and interoperable implementations of the IEC 61499 reference architecture.

This paper presents novel generation modelling (NGM), a multi‐domain, multi‐time scale digital twin (DT) platform for the process industry with advanced capabilities. Based on NGM, a hybrid modelling approach combining first principles and process data is developed, and a multi‐scale model integration method is applied to integrate the DT system model.
