Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

Immune response in atopic dermatitis: main pathogenetic mechanisms and stage-dependent correlations with age in regard to dermatological and non-dermatological systemic processes

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2021

Microglial dynamics and ferroptosis induction in human iPSC‐derived neuron–astrocyte–microglia tri‐cultures

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A tri‐culture of iPSC‐derived neurons, astrocytes, and microglia treated with ferroptosis inducers as an Induced ferroptosis model was characterized by scRNA‐seq, cell survival, and cytokine release assays. This analysis revealed diverse microglial transcriptomic changes, indicating that the system captures key aspects of the complex cellular ...

Monocyte LOXHD1 and RHOB Expression Predictive of Progressive Systemic Sclerosis–Associated Interstitial Lung Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective A leading cause of death among patients with scleroderma (SSc), interstitial lung disease (ILD) remains challenging to prognosticate. The discovery of biomarkers that accurately determine which patients would benefit from close monitoring and aggressive therapy would be an essential clinical tool.

Methamphetamine use and HSV-1 coinfection synergistically alter IFNα, IFNγ, and IL-29 expression in gingival crevicular fluid: implications for gingivitis pathogenesis

open access: yesИнфекция и иммунитет
Background. Methamphetamine use compromises both innate and adaptive immune responses, substantially reducing the body’s ability to combat pathogens and preserve mucosal integrity.

The TreaT-Assay: A Novel Urine-Derived Donor Kidney Cell-Based Assay for Prediction of Kidney Transplantation Outcome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Donor-reactive immunity plays a major role in rejection after kidney transplantation, but analysis of donor-reactive T-cells is not applied routinely. However, it has been shown that this could help to identify patients at risk of acute rejection.

A targeted immunotherapy approach for HER2/neu transformed tumors by coupling an engineered effector domain with interferon-γ

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2018
Despite substantial clinical progress with targeted therapies, current antibody-based approaches have limited efficacy at controlling HER2/neu-positive breast cancers, especially in the absence of chemotherapies.
