Influence of IgE Fragments on IgE Determination

International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 1990
IgE fragments were detected by polyclonal and monoclonal anti-IgE antibodies using Western blot techniques and immunoassays. Other antibodies detected only intact IgE molecules. In the presence of IgE fragments, higher IgE levels were estimated, depending on the epitope specificity of the antibodies used in the IgE determination assays.

The Importance of IgE and the Uses of Anti-IgE [PDF]

open access: possible, 2020
Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is key to the development of allergic disorders, such as allergic asthma. Given this centrality, for many years, manipulation of the elements of the immune system that are linked to IgE function has been a desirable goal in the treatment of asthma and other allergic disorders.

IgE and non-IgE food allergy

Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, 2003
Food allergy (FA) is characterized by an abnormal immunologic reactivity to food proteins. The gastro-intestinal tract serves not only a nutritive function but also is a major immunologic organ. Although previously thought to be triggered primarily by an IgE-mediated mechanism of injury, considerable evidence now suggests that non-IgE mechanisms may ...

Receptors for IgE

Current Opinion in Immunology, 1993
Following advances during the past 5 years in our understanding of the molecular structure of receptors for IgE, progress has been made in elucidating the structure and function of IgE receptors and the signalling events through these receptors. IgE is not the only ligand for some of these receptors, leading to their having unexpected and interesting ...

IgE in Pemphigus

Archives of Dermatology, 1977
To the Editor.— In a report by Arbesman et al in theArchives(110:378-381, 1974), elevated levels of serum IgE were observed in patients with bullous pemphigoid but not in those with pemphigus. We have similarly pursued, as abstracted 1 (and perhaps concurrently with the study by Arbesman and co-workers), the evaluation of levels of serum IgE in a ...

IgE-immunotoxins. II. IgE-ricin A-chain

Immunopharmacology, 1987
In order to develop a reagent capable of killing cells with high-affinity IgE Fc receptors, such as mast cells and basophils, ricin A-chain (the toxic portion of ricin) was conjugated to rat IgE myeloma protein, IR 162, via derivatization of the IgE by n-succinimidyl-3-(2-pyridyldithio)propionate (SPDP) thus creating an IgE-immunotoxin. Monensin (10(-7)

IgE totales et IgE spécifiques [PDF]

open access: possibleBio Tribune Magazine, 2003

IgE-immunotoxins. I. IgE-intact ricin

Immunopharmacology, 1987
An IgE immunotoxin consisting of rat IgE myeloma protein, IR 162, conjugated via the heterobifunctional linking agent N-succinimidyl-3-(2-pyridyldithio)propionate to intact ricin was synthesized and evaluated. The capacity of this IgE-immunotoxin to bind to rat basophilic leukemia cells (RBL cells) and to inhibit RBL cell incorporation of [3H]leucine ...

IgE and chemotherapy

Cancer Immunology, Immunotherapy, 2011
The nexus of chemotherapeutic intervention and the immunomodulation of IgE-related phenomena are not well understood. The relationship bears importance in better understanding the causal and/or resultant effects of one on the other and their collective role in the management and sequelae of the cancer patient.

IgE bullous disease [PDF]

open access: possibleClinical and Experimental Dermatology, 1997
We report two patients with the typical picture of bullous pemphigoid who lacked two critical diagnostic immunopathological features of the disease, namely IgG or C3 bound to the epidermal basement membrane and circulating IgG antibodies directed against the basement membrane zone (BMZ).
