Harmonized Protocol for Subfield Segmentation in the Hippocampal Body on High‐Resolution In Vivo MRI From the Hippocampal Subfields Group (HSG)

open access: yesHippocampus, Volume 36, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Hippocampal subfields differentially develop and age, and they vary in vulnerability to neurodegenerative diseases. Innovation in high‐resolution imaging has accelerated clinical research on human hippocampal subfields, but substantial differences in segmentation protocols impede comparisons of results across laboratories.

Extracellular Vesicles From Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Drive Muscle and Neuronal Regeneration Through TNFα Modulation

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
Workflow of the work. (1) Human muscle biopsies were collected, and the human muscle precursor cells (hMPC) were isolated, followed by co‐culture with human monocytes (THP‐1). In parallel, human muscles were decellularised to obtain an extracellular matrix (ECM) free of cells. ECM were recellularised by injecting hMPC and THP1 into the matrix.

Solar and Wind Energy Variability in Tropical South America: Seasonal Ocean‐Atmospheric Modulators

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Climate variability affects renewable energy production and thus considering it in planning is essential for achieving sustainable development. We present how climate (ocean‐atmospheric) variability modes modulate wind and solar radiation variability, thereby influencing renewable power generation in tropical South America. Synergizing scientific and local knowledge for ecosystem services assessments: A case study in northern Portugal

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 633-649, March 2026.
Abstract Integrating scientific and local ecological knowledge on ecosystem services (ES) is essential for effective and inclusive environmental management. Such an integration strengthens societal engagement, supports policy implementation and helps reduce sectoral conflicts across marine sectors.

Living La Vida Global: The Expansion of Highly Qualified Migration to Spain and Its Socio‐Spatial Patterns

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐income countries shape their migration policies to attract highly qualified immigrants (HQI), aiming to boost human capital and economic growth. HQI often settle in large cities, raising two challenges for urban social sustainability. First, immigrants frequently face residential segregation, hindering social integration.
