open access: yesEos, 1992
The International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) is a series of mathematical models of the main geomagnetic field and its secular variation. Each model consists of a set of spherical harmonic (or Gauss) coefficients, the g's and h's in a series expansion of the following geomagnetic potential.

A preliminary assessment of the IGRF-1990 for Mexico

Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1994
Abstract A preliminary assessment of the IGRF-1990 in Mexico is carried out by comparing geomagnetic elements measured throughout Mexico and IGRF derived geomagnetic values. Mean differences of 10.6 nT, 24.4 nT, and −0.6′ are obtained for total intensity, horizontal component, and declination (RMS deviations of 206 nT, 116 nT, and 18.7′, respectively)

On IGRF models for 1945–1985

Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1987
Abstract Several candidate models for 1945 are compared and models for 1945–1990 are estimated in terms of the eccentric dipole.
