Regulation of IL-37 and its signaling co-receptor IL-1R8 in HIV infection

The Journal of Immunology, 2019
Abstract IL-37 is a member of the IL-1 family with potent anti-inflammatory and immune deviating effects. The cytokine exerts its biological effects via IL-1R8 (also formerly known as TIR-8 and SIGIRR), the signaling component of its receptor. Little is known about the regulation of the cytokine and of its receptor in HIV infection.

IL-37 requires IL-18Rα and SIGIRR/IL-1R8 to diminish allergic airway inflammation in mice

Allergy, 2015
Interleukin (IL) 37 has been described as a negative regulator of innate immunity, as it reduces the activation and cytokine production of different innate immune cells. Recently, results from the CLARA childhood asthma cohort suggested an implication of IL-37 for human asthma pathogenesis.

The inhibitory receptor toll interleukin-1R 8 (TIR8/IL-1R8/SIGIRR) is downregulated in chronic lymphocytic leukemia

Leukemia & Lymphoma, 2017
Toll interleukin-1 receptor 8 (also known as TIR8, SIGIRR, or IL1R8) is a transmembrane receptor that inhibits inflammation. Accordingly, genetic inactivation of this protein exacerbates chronic inflammation and inflammation-associated tumors in mice.

Increased expression of IL-1R8 and a possible immunomodulatory role of its ligand IL-37 in allergic rhinitis patients

International Immunopharmacology, 2018
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a chronic inflammatory airway disease that is caused by an abnormal T cell response. T helper (Th)-17 cells and Th2 cells are the CD4+ T cell subsets implicated in the pathogenesis of AR. The suppression of excessive responses of these Th17 and Th2 cells has been reported to be an effective therapeutic approach to treat AR ...

Il-1R8 deficiency increases the suscptibility of LPR mice to develop B-cell lymphoma

2016
The association among autoimmunity, chronic inflammation and malignancy has been described and confirmed by epidemiological studies. In particular, patients suffering from autoimmune diseases are prone to develop B-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphomas, but the mechanisms triggering the transition from benign B-cell proliferation to malignancy are still poorly ...

Transplantation-induced ischemia-reperfusion injury modulates antigen presentation by donor renal CD11c1F4/801 macrophages through IL-1R8 regulation

2020
Background In donor kidneys subjected to ischemia-reperfusion injury during kidney transplant, phagocytes coexpressing the F4/80 and CD11c molecules mediate proinflammatory responses and trigger adaptive immunity in transplantation through antigen presentation. After injury, however, resident renal macrophages coexpressing these surface markers acquire

Interleukin-1 receptor 8 (IL-1R8) plays a crucial role in NK cell differentiation and function

2016
IL-1R8 is an Interleukin-1R like receptor (ILR) family member that acts as a negative regulator of ILRs and TLRs signaling. Both murine and human NK cells express high levels of IL-1R8 but its functional role in this cell type has not been described so far. The results presented here show that IL-1R8 expression increases along NK cell maturation in the
