Enteroendocrine cells in terminal ileal Crohn's disease

Journal of Crohn's and Colitis, 2012
Enteroendocrine cells sense gut luminal contents, and orchestrate digestive physiology whilst contributing to mucosal homeostasis and innate immunity. The terminal ileum is the key site of EEC expression but detailed assessment of their subtypes, lineage transcription factors and expression products has not been undertaken in terminal ileal Crohn's ...

Adalimumab therapy in Crohnʼs disease of the ileal pouch

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, 2012
Crohn's disease (CD) of the pouch can develop in patients with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis, resulting in significant morbidities, even pouch failure. The aim of this study was to evaluate short- and long-term outcome of adalimumab (ADA) in treating these patients.A total of 48 patients who received ADA for CD of the pouch from June 2006 to June 2011 ...

Dyslipoproteinaemia after Ileal Resection in Crohn’s Disease

Digestion, 2009
Serum lipoproteins and fecal fat were determined in 37 patients with Crohn’s disease, who had been submitted to ileal resections. All patients were studied in a quiescent phase of the disease, on average 5 years after the last operation, and all except one had a daily intake of dietary fat lower than 70 g.

Iatrogenic ileal obstruction in a patient with Crohn's disease.

Digestive diseases and sciences, 2004
Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory intestinal disease, whose etiology is still unknown. Although the whole gastrointestinal tract may be affected, the ileum and colon are frequently involved. Histopathologic findings are characterized by granulomas, when present, and chronic inflammation extending through all intestinal wall layers, edema ...

Ileal pouch/anal anastomosis for Crohn's disease

The Lancet, 1996
Patients with Crohn's disease (CD) are not commonly considered as candidates for ileal pouch/anal anastomosis (IPAA). This approach has been avoided because of the poor results observed, retrospectively, in patients with an initial diagnosis of ulcerative colitis who were found to have CD on examination of the resected specimen.

Sigmoid Volvulus as a Complication of Ileal Crohnʼs Disease

Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, 1989
Intestinal volvulus in patients with Crohn's disease is rare and we could find only one report of sigmoid volvulus with active Crohn's colitis. We have seen a 54-year-old woman with long-standing Crohn's disease who developed large-bowel obstruction.

PRIMARY INTESTINAL HODGKIN'S DISEASE COMPLICATING ILEAL CROHN'S DISEASE

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1997
An unusual primary intestinal lymphoma that occurred as a complication of ileal Crohn's disease is presented. Immunohistochemistry confirmed the light microscopic diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease (nodular sclerosing), and characterized a distinct mucosal nodule as a large‐cell anaplastic non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Diffusion and perfusion MRI quantification in ileal Crohn’s disease

European Radiology, 2018
To quantify intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM)-DWI and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE)-MRI parameters in normal and abnormal ileal segments in Crohn's disease (CD) patients and to assess the association of these parameters with clinical and MRI-based measurements of CD activity. In this prospective study, 27 CD patients (M/F 18/9, mean age 42 years ...
