The Rancho Mounting Technique for the Ilizarov Method

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1992
To improve implant tolerance and muscle function associated with circular external fixation, the authors substituted divergent titanium pins for the tensioned steel wires used to mount the Ilizarov apparatus on a limb. The first ten patients treated with half-pins were compared to the last ten patients managed with tensioned wires. While the conditions

Deformity Correction Followed by Lengthening With the Ilizarov Method

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 2002
Deformity combined with shortening of 18 lower limb segments of 17 patients was treated with the Ilizarov method. Limb lengthening was done at the same treatment (monofocal treatment) or a separate osteotomy (bifocal treatment) was done after acute or gradual correction of the deformity using the Ilizarov hinge system.
