Quantum Illumination with Gaussian States [PDF]
An optical transmitter irradiates a target region containing a bright thermal-noise bath in which a low-reflectivity object might be embedded. The light received from this region is used to decide whether the object is present or absent.

Deep learning enables structured illumination microscopy with low light levels and enhanced speed
Structured illumination microscopy (SIM) surpasses the optical diffraction limit and offers a two-fold enhancement in resolution over diffraction limited microscopy.

Neural Illumination: Lighting Prediction for Indoor Environments [PDF]
This paper addresses the task of estimating the light arriving from all directions to a 3D point observed at a selected pixel in an RGB image. This task is challenging because it requires predicting a mapping from a partial RGB observation by a camera to

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Exploration for Spatial Sustainability of Microalgae Façades Based on Mock-Up Cultivation Settings
Microalgae are third-generation biomasses that can be used to extract bio-fuel with various advantages from an ecological perspective. In addition, since it is cultivated in an underwater space, it can be used as a microalgae culture space by using ...

Structured illumination microscopy using micro-pixellated light-emitting diodes [PDF]
Structured illumination is a flexible and economical method of obtaining optical sectioning in wide-field microscopy [1]. In this technique the illumination system is modified to project a single-spatial frequency grid pattern onto the sample [2, 3]. The

Making of Night Vision: Object Detection Under Low-Illumination
Object detection has so far achieved great success. However, almost all of current state-of-the-art methods focus on images with normal illumination, while object detection under low-illumination is often ignored.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Insights into Daily Dynamics of Fish Migration during Spring in the Konda River
Hydrology and temperature are known as key drivers for fish migration in floodplain-channel systems of large rivers. The Lower Irtysh contains valuable species of whitefish and sturgeon.
