Image-based rendering and tracking of faces
In this paper, we present an image-based method for the tracking and rendering of faces. We use the algorithm in an immersive video conferencing system where multiple participants are placed at a virtual table. This requires viewpoint modification of dynamic objects.

Image-based rendering in the gradient domain
ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2013We propose a novel image-based rendering algorithm for handling complex scenes that may include reflective surfaces. Our key contribution lies in treating the problem in the gradient domain. We use a standard technique to estimate scene depth, but assign depths to image gradients rather than pixels.

Abstract Image-based rendering (IBR) is a process of synthesizing images at novel viewpoints based on a set of existing images. Although it is primarily a task in computer graphics for novel view synthesis, it can be treated as a signal processing problem: How do we perform sampling, representation, and reconstruction for a high-dimensional function?

Image-Based Rendering Using Image-Based Priors
International Journal of Computer Vision, 2003Given a set of images acquired from known viewpoints, we describe a method for synthesizing the image which would be seen from a new viewpoint. In contrast to existing techniques, which explicitly reconstruct the 3D geometry of the scene, we transform the problem to the reconstruction of colour rather than depth.

Efficient image-based rendering

Image-based streamline generation and rendering
IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2007Seeding streamlines in 3D flow fields without considering their projections in screen space can produce visually cluttered rendering results. Streamlines will overlap or intersect with each other in the output image, which makes it difficult for the user to perceive the underlying flow structure.

Hybrid Geometric - Image Based Rendering
Computer Graphics Forum, 2002We present a Hybrid Geometric-Image Based Rendering (HGIBR) system for displaying very complex geometrical models at interactive frame rates. Our approach replaces distant geometry with a combination of image-based representations and geometry, while rendering nearby objects from geometry.

In this article, we describe a multi-layered image-based rendering system that can use different types of input to produce and render new environments. Each separate input that can be manipulated independently is called a layer.

Pose Space Image Based Rendering
Computer Graphics Forum, 2013AbstractThis paper introduces a new image‐based rendering approach for articulated objects with complex pose‐dependent appearance, such as clothes. Our approach combines body‐pose‐dependent appearance and geometry to synthesize images of new poses from a database of examples.
