Pose Space Image Based Rendering

Computer Graphics Forum, 2013
AbstractThis paper introduces a new image‐based rendering approach for articulated objects with complex pose‐dependent appearance, such as clothes. Our approach combines body‐pose‐dependent appearance and geometry to synthesize images of new poses from a database of examples.

Image-Based rendering

2010
Over the last two decades, image-based rendering has emerged as one of the most exciting applications of computer vision (Kang, Li, Tong et al. 2006; Shum, Chan, and Kang 2007). In image-based rendering, 3D reconstruction techniques from computer vision are combined with computer graphics rendering techniques that use multiple views of a scene to ...

Image-based rendering for mixed reality

Proceedings 2001 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.01CH37205), 2002
In this paper, we propose an image-based approach to synthesize a novel view image for mixed reality (MR) systems. Theoretically, the image-based method is good for synthesizing realistic images, but it is difficult to achieve interactive handling of the object.

Image‐based view rendering in endoscopy

International Journal of Imaging Systems and Technology, 2004
AbstractVideo endoscopy, a modality of minimally invasive surgery, has proven to be significantly less invasive to the patient. However, by relying on a video interface to observe the surgical scene, several nonintuitive effects need to be contended with.

Layered textures for image-based rendering

Journal of Computer Science and Technology, 2004
An extension to texture mapping is given in this paper for improving the efficiency of image-based rendering. For a depth image with an orthogonal displacement at each pixel, it is decomposed by the displacement into a series of layered textures (LTs) with each one having the same displacement for all its texels.

Image-Based Rendering for Ink Painting

2013 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2013
Ink painting is one of the traditional forms of expression in oriental art and it is fascinating to generate the distinctive ink painting effect using modern non-photo realistic rendering (NPR) technique. Since most stroke-based rendering (SBR) methods require much user interaction and professional knowledge about painting, it should be more convenient

Review of image-based rendering techniques

SPIE Proceedings, 2000
In this paper, we survey the techniques for image-based rendering. Unlike traditional 3D computer graphics in which 3D geometry of the scene is known, image-based rendering techniques render novel views directly from input images. Previous image-based rendering techniques can be classified into three categories according to how much geometric ...

Image-based haptic texture rendering

Proceedings of the 9th ACM SIGGRAPH Conference on Virtual-Reality Continuum and its Applications in Industry, 2010
In this paper, we present a new image-based method to display haptic texture information extracted from a static two dimensional image. The three dimensional forces allow the user to feel the contours and textures of the image with sufficient realism using haptic devices.

On the compression of image based rendering scene

Proceedings 2000 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.00CH37101), 2000
In image based rendering (IBR), a 3D scene is recorded through a set of photos, and a novel view is rendered by assembling data from the photo set. Compression is essential to reduce the huge data amount of IBR. We examine three categories of IBR compression algorithms: the block coder, the reference coder and the high dimensional transform (wavelet ...

A system for active image-based rendering

2003 International Conference on Multimedia and Expo. ICME '03. Proceedings (Cat. No.03TH8698), 2003
In this paper, we develop a system for active image-based rendering (IBR). Active IBR is a framework that is capable of estimating the final rendering quality and capturing the next view at the position where the rendering quality can be improved the most. The result is a non-uniform capturing scheme for IBR.
