Radiometric alignment of image sequences
Proceedings of the 2004 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2004. CVPR 2004., 2004Color values in an image are related to image irradiance by a nonlinear function called radiometric response function. Since this function depends on the aperture and the shutter speed, image intensity of a same object may vary during the acquisition of an image sequence due to auto exposure feature of the camera.

Robust multi-sensor image alignment
Sixth International Conference on Computer Vision (IEEE Cat. No.98CH36271), 2002This paper presents a method for alignment of images acquired by sensors of different modalities (e.g., EO and IR). The paper has two main contributions: (i) It identifies an appropriate image representation, for multi-sensor alignment, i.e., a representation which emphasizes the common information between the two multi-sensor images, suppresses the ...

Stitching multiple images together to create beautiful high-resolution panoramas is one of the most popular consumer applications of image registration and blending. In this chapter, I review the motion models (geometric transformations) that underlie panoramic image stitching, discuss direct intensity-based and feature-based registration algorithms ...

Shape-Based Image Retrieval By Alignment
2011Among the existing Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) techniques for still images based on different perceptual features (e. g., colour, texture, etc.), shape-based methods are particularly challenging due to the intrinsic difficulties in dealing with shape localization and recognition problems.

Image registration by aligning entropies
Proceedings of the 2001 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. CVPR 2001, 2005Maximization of mutual information is a powerful method for registering images (and other data) captured with different sensors or under varying conditions, since the technique is robust to variations in the image formation process. On the other hand, the high level of robustness allows false positives when matching over a large search space and also ...
