No-reference image quality metric based on image classification

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2011
In this article, we present a new no-reference (NR) objective image quality metric based on image classification. We also propose a new blocking metric and a new blur metric.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Comparison of radiated noise classification methods for underwater targets based on different enhanced images and convolutional neural networks

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering
With the continuous development of economy and society, factors such as the variety of underwater targets and the high level of environmental noise have a great impact on the classification accuracy of underwater target radiation noise, and the ...

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
