Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Real-Time Head Orientation and Eye-Tracking Algorithm Using Adaptive Feature Extraction and Refinement Mechanisms

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
We propose a fast eye-tracking method that takes the depth image and the gray-scale infrared (IR) image using a traditional image processing algorithm.

Composite video and graphics display for camera viewing systems in robotics and teleoperation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A system for real-time video image display for robotics or remote-vehicle teleoperation is described that has at least one robot arm or remotely operated vehicle controlled by an operator through hand-controllers, and one or more television cameras and ...

On the Gauss map of embedded minimal tubes

open access: yes, 1999
A surface is called a tube if its level-sets with respect to some coordinate function (the axis of the surface) are compact. Any tube of zero mean curvature has an invariant, the so-called flow vector. We study how the geometry of the Gaussian image of a

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The experimental proof of Mott exciton-plasma phase transition

open access: yesТехнологія та конструювання в електронній апаратурі, 2010
The dependence has been measured for the spontaneous radiation τ average life from the excitation level (non-equilibrium charge ΔN carriers concentration) on particularly clear optically homogeneous monocrystals. Results of the experiment confirm earlier

3D reconstruction of laser projective point with projection invariant generated from five points on 2D target

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Vision measurement on the basis of structured light plays a significant role in the optical inspection research. The 2D target fixed with a line laser projector is designed to realize the transformations among the world coordinate system, the camera ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Tunable Image Rotator of Light With Optical Geometric Transformation

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
The traditional method to rotate an image of light is by using a Dove prism, even though it is unreliable, owing to the mechanical adjustment when a tunable image rotation is required.
