Synchronization of Chaotic Extremum-Coded Random Number Generators and Its Application to Segmented Image Encryption

open access: yesMathematics
This paper proposes a highly secure image encryption technique based on chaotic synchronization. Firstly, through the design of a synchronization controller, we ensure that the master–slave chaotic extremum-coded random number generators (ECRNGs ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Performance of the 2D Coupled Map Lattice Model and Its Application in Image Encryption

open access: yes, 2022
The two-dimensional coupled map lattice (2D CML) model has been extensively employed as the basis component for designing various schemes in the cryptography system due to its complicated chaotic dynamic behavior.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells
