Enhance Image-to-Image Generation with LLaVA-generated Prompts

open access: yes2024 5th International Conference on Information Science, Parallel and Distributed Systems (ISPDS)
This paper presents a novel approach to enhance image-to-image generation by leveraging the multimodal capabilities of the Large Language and Vision Assistant (LLaVA). We propose a framework where LLaVA analyzes input images and generates textual descriptions, hereinafter LLaVA-generated prompts.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Visual Object Networks: Image Generation with Disentangled 3D Representation

open access: yes, 2018
Recent progress in deep generative models has led to tremendous breakthroughs in image generation. However, while existing models can synthesize photorealistic images, they lack an understanding of our underlying 3D world.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Dilated Spatial Generative Adversarial Networks for Ergodic Image Generation

open access: yes, 2018
Generative models have recently received renewed attention as a result of adversarial learning. Generative adversarial networks consist of samples generation model and a discrimination model able to distinguish between genuine and synthetic samples.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Bridging the Gap in Facial Age Progression: An Attention Mechanism Approach

open access: yesIEEE Access
With the advent of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), significant progress has been made in facial aging prediction. However, existing methods still face considerable challenges. Many studies estimate the ages of individuals in images based on their

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

An Improved SAR Ship Classification Method Using Text-to-Image Generation-Based Data Augmentation and Squeeze and Excitation

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) plays a crucial role in maritime surveillance due to its capability for all-weather, all-day operation. However, SAR ship recognition faces challenges, primarily due to the imbalance and inadequacy of ship samples in ...
