A technical note on improved instrumentation for Blount staple insertion

open access: yesJournal of Children's Orthopaedics, 2012
Purpose Temporary hemiepiphysiodesis has gained increasing popularity after the introduction of the eight-Plate Guided Growth System. Since its introduction, the eight-Plate has largely supplanted the traditional Blount staple.

Rigid endoscope guided removal of penetrated embedded neck foreign body

open access: yesTrauma Case Reports, 2018
Penetrative neck injury can cause potentially fatal damage to the neck. Removing those fully embedded small foreign bodies secondary to ballistic trauma can be technically challenging.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

A prototype for SONTRAC, a scintillating plastic fiber tracking detector for neutron imaging and spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We report on tests of a prototype detector system designed to perform imaging and spectroscopy on 20 to 250 MeV neutrons. Although developed for the study of high-energy solar flare processes, the detection techniques employed for SONTRAC, the SOlar ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Mallet fracture treatment with extension block technique

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica, 2021
Mallet fracture treatment usually needs surgery. Reduction of the bone fragment with two percutaneus K-wire is an alternative treatment to open reduction and internal fixation. We evaluated our clinical results of this method. Eight patients were treated

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Event-based high-resolution neutron image formation analysis using intensified CMOS cameras

open access: yesScientific Reports
We present a versatile optical setup for high-resolution neutron imaging with an adaptable field of view and magnification that can resolve individual neutron absorption events with an image intensifier and a CMOS camera.
