Gaussian Process Regression Hybrid Models for the Top-of-Atmosphere Retrieval of Vegetation Traits Applied to PRISMA and EnMAP Imagery

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The continuous monitoring of the terrestrial Earth system by a growing number of optical satellite missions provides valuable insights into vegetation and cropland characteristics.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Nonlinear retinal image enhancement for vessel detection

open access: yes, 2017
Retinal vessel detection is an essential part of the computer-aided diagnosis of eye diseases. Due to non-perfect imaging environment, retinal images often appear with intensity variations and artificial noises.

Image-Dehazing Method Based on the Fusion Coding of Contours and Colors

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The dehazing of images shot in fog is a hot spot in the study of computer vision. Unlike dehazing methods, which use an atmospheric scattering model, the method proposed here is based on fusion coding of contours and colors.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Fourier-invariant autofocused Laguerre-Gaussian beams

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика
We study a new Laguerre - Gaussian (LG) beam, which differs from conventional LG mode beams that preserve the structure of the intensity distribution up to scale.

Weighted Direct Nonlinear Regression for Effective Image Interpolation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes a learning-based image interpolation method based on weighted direct nonlinear regression. It attempts to learn the nonlinear relationship between the low-resolution patches and their corresponding high-resolution patches by using an ...

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).
