Analysis of fuzzy clustering and a generic fuzzy rule-based image segmentation technique

open access: yes, 2001
Many fuzzy clustering based techniques when applied to image segmentation do not incorporate spatial relationships of the pixels, while fuzzy rule-based image segmentation techniques are generally application dependent. Also for most of these techniques,

Molecular determinants of signal transduction in tropomyosin receptor kinases

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tropomyosin receptor kinases control critical neuronal functions, but how do the same receptors produce diverse cellular responses? This review explores the structural mechanisms behind Trk signaling diversity, focusing on allosteric modulation and ligand bias.

Dietary nitrate and nitrite protect against doxorubicin‐induced cardiac fibrosis and oxidative protein damage in tumor‐bearing mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapies such as doxorubicin can have toxic effects on healthy cardiovascular/heart tissue. Following up on a doxorubicin toxicity study in mice without tumors where nitrate water was cardioprotective (lessened toxicity), this study with tumor‐bearing mice undergoing doxorubicin treatment showed no negative effect of nitrate and nitrite on drug ...

Fuzzy clustering based transition region extraction for image segmentation

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2018
Transition region based approaches are recent hybrid segmentation techniques well known for its simplicity and effectiveness. Here, the segmentation effectiveness depends on the robust extraction of transition regions.

Salt & pepper noise impact on image coding based on image splitting

open access: yesCommunications, 2000
The paper deals with the influence of noise and two control parameters on a segmentation method for image coding. Dynamic min_max criterion and variance criterion were used as segmentation control parameters.

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.
