Archived seismograms recorded in the 20th century present a valuable source of information for monitoring earthquake activity. However, old data, which are only available as scanned paper-based images should be digitised and converted from raster to ...

The emergence of computational pathology comes with a demand to extract more and more information from each tissue sample. Such information extraction often requires the segmentation of numerous histological objects (e.g., cell nuclei, glands, etc.) in ...

A hierarchical genetic disparity estimation algorithm for multiview image synthesis [PDF]
A hierarchical genetic algorithm for disparity estimation is presented. The goal, to estimate reliable disparity fields with low computational cost, is reached using a hierarchical genetic matching procedure.

Local affine image matching and synthesis based on structural patterns [PDF]
A general purpose block-to-block affine transformation estimator is described. The estimator is based on Fourier slice analysis and Fourier spectral alignment.

Ultrasound imaging simulation and echocardiographic image synthesis [PDF]
Presents a ray tracing ultrasound imaging simulation method that accounts for the effects of reflection, scattering and attenuation. Two-dimensional echocardiographic images were synthesized using this method. Nonlinear effects introduced by the signal processing units in an ultrasound imaging system were also emulated.

The Synthesis and Analysis of Color Images [PDF]
I describe a method for performing the synthesis and analysis of digital color images. The method is based on two principles. First, image data are represented with respect to the separate physical factors, surface reflectance and the spectral power distribution of the ambient light, that give rise to the perceived color of an object.

Warplets : an image-dependent wavelet representation [PDF]
A novel image-dependent representation, warplets, based on self-similarity of regions is introduced. The representation is well suited to the description and segmentation of images containing textures and oriented patterns, such as fingerprints.

An affine symmetric image model and its applications [PDF]
Natural images contain considerable redundancy, some of which is successfully captured using recently developed directional wavelets. In this paper, an affine symmetric image model is considered.

Geometry-assisted image-based rendering for facial analysis and synthesis
S.493-505In this paper, we present an image-based method for the tracking and rendering of faces. We use the algorithm in an immersive video conferencing system where multiple participants are placed in a common virtual room.
