A Test of Stationarity for Textured Images

Technometrics, 2014
This article proposes a test of stationarity for random fields on a regular lattice motivated by a problem arising from texture analysis. Our approach is founded on the locally stationary two-dimensional wavelet (LS2W) process model for lattice processes that has previously been used for standard texture analysis tasks, such as texture discrimination ...

Texture analysis of medical images

Clinical Radiology, 2004
The analysis of texture parameters is a useful way of increasing the information obtainable from medical images. It is an ongoing field of research, with applications ranging from the segmentation of specific anatomical structures and the detection of lesions, to differentiation between pathological and healthy tissue in different organs.

Sample Selection in Textured Images

2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007
This paper proposes a texture learning method based on fractal compression and iterated function systems (IFS). This type of approach allows to extract self-similarities between blocks of a given image. The number of similarities for each element yields to a score of each blocks.

Audification and sonification of texture in images

Journal of Electronic Imaging, 2001
Texture is one of the main image attributes used for vi- sual and computer-aided pattern recognition in several areas. How- ever, texture analysis is often confounded by other neighboring or surrounding features. The auditory system has not been used much for image analysis in spite of the fact that it has several advantages over the visual system.

Automatic texture segmentation for texture-based image retrieval

10th International Multimedia Modelling Conference, 2004. Proceedings., 2004
Texture-segmentation is the crucial initial step for texture-based image retrieval. Texture is the main difficulty faced to a segmentation method. Many image segmentation algorithms either can’t handle texture properly or can’t obtain texture features directly during segmentation which can be used for retrieval purpose.

Texture Detection for Image Analysis

2005
Many applications such as image compression, pre-processing or segmentation require some information from the regions composing an image. The main objective of this paper is to define a methodology to extract some local information from an image. Each region is characterized in terms of homogeneity (region composed with the same grey-level or a single ...

Color Image Texture Indexing

1999
The use of the image color information beyond color histograms has been limited for image retrieval. A reason is the lack of an accepted core basic color operation set on color images. With the grown interest in image retrieval applied to color images, new operators have been recently developed, having interesting properties.

Visual simulation of texture/non-texture image synthesis

Proceedings Computer Graphics International 2000, 2002
We propose a new and effective image modeling dual technique which is capable of simulating both texture image synthesis and non-texture images like fractals. The technique uses the algebraic approach of graph grammars theory as a new simulation tool for both texture and non-texture image synthesis via its graph production, derivation and double ...

Supervised Texture Detection in Images

2005
This paper presents a technique for texture segmentation in images. Providing a small template of a texture of interest results in the image being segmented into regions with similar properties and background (non-similar) regions. The core of the segmentation engine is based on the minimal cut/maximal flow algorithm in the graph representing an image.

Color and Texture Image Segmentation

2012
For applications, such as image recognition or scene understanding, we cannot process the whole image directly for the reason that it is inefficient and unpractical. Therefore, to reduce the complexity of the recognition of the image, segmentation is a necessary step.
