International transmission of tele-ophthalmology images

Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, 2000
Tele-ophthalmic consultations were conducted between a hospital in East Java, Indonesia, and an ophthalmology centre in Perth, Western Australia. Twenty-two eyes of 14 subjects were screened for glaucoma using a hand-held fundus camera. Optic disc images comprised 267 x 234 pixels at 24 bit/pixel (187 kByte).

Channel and complexity scalable image transmission

Proceedings 2001 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.01CH37205), 2002
We present a source-channel coding system which is well suited for transmission over channels with varying channel states as common in mobile environments or broadcast scenarios. The system consists of a progressive source coder, a high-memory convolutional code (CC) with puncturing for unequal error protection (UEP) and a sequential decoding unit ...

Image signal transmission with Airy beams

Optics Letters, 2015
We propose and demonstrate an approach for image signal transmission based on self-accelerating Airy beams. The spatial information is encoded in the Fourier space through a 4-f telescope system, which can circumvent obstacles to realize a self-bending signal transmission.

Efficient fax transmission of halftone images

Journal of Electronic Imaging, 1992
The efficient encoding and transmission of information for facsimile communication relies on redundancy in the scanned pixels. Halftone images, especiaily those rendered by high-quality dispersed dot techniques, are "busy" with alternative black and white pixels and shorter run lengths as compared to text information.

Progressive compression and transmission of PointTexture images

Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation, 2006
Abstract A progressive compression and transmission algorithm for PointTexture 3-D images is proposed in this work. The proposed algorithm represents a PointTexture image hierarchically using an octree. The geometry information in octree nodes is encoded by the predictive partial matching (PPM) method, while the color information is encoded using the

Reflex Transmission Imaging

1988
Reflex transmission imaging (RTI) is a method for making orthographic acoustic transmission images without requiring the presence of an acoustic source on the opposite side of the object. It is well-suited to imaging specific planes in objects of moderate scatter cross section, such as human tissue.

Combined reflection and transmission ultrasound imaging

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1991
Reflex transmission imaging (RTI) is a method for producing orthographic ultrasound transmission images, which depict focal-plane transmittance, by using a single transducer rather than an opposed transducer pair. RTI can be implemented using modified B-scan equipment, and a bidirectional scan probe.

Analog image transmission in optical waveguides

Optics Letters, 1978
We have constructed a refractive index profile confined to a single waveguiding region, which permits analog transmission of one-dimensional spatial images along single optical waveguides.

Progressive image transmission with RCPT protection

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
In this paper, a joint source-channel coding scheme is proposed for progressive image transmission over channels with both random bit errors and packet loss by using rate-compatible punctured Turbo codes (RCPT) protection only. Two technical components which are different from existing methods are presented.

Interference immunity of image transmission channel

2018 7th Mediterranean Conference on Embedded Computing (MECO), 2018
Methods to increase the efficiency of image transmission via communication channels are considered. An algorithm to increase confidentiality of image transmission channels used in conjunction with an algorithm for transmitting spectral representation without constant components (with their further restoration) is offered.
