Magnetic resonance imaging and velocimetry of ethane

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Open, 2023
This study investigates the experimental conditions required for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of thermally polarized hydrocarbon gas, focusing on ethane. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra and relaxation properties of ethane were analysed at different pressures in the range from 1.5 to 6 bar at 7 T using 1H NMR spectroscopy.

River Surface Velocimetry Based on Virtual River Dataset and Modulated-RAFT

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
In recent years, there has been a surge of interest in image-based velocimetry methods for river surface velocity (RSV) estimation due to their efficiency and accuracy, including large-scale particle image velocimetry (LSPIV), space-time image ...

Image correlation velocimetry [PDF]

open access: yesExperiments in Fluids, 1995
This paper focuses on the correlation of two successive scalar images for the purpose of measuring imaged fluid motions. A method is presented for deforming, or transforming, one image to another. Taylor series expansions of the Lagrangian displacement field are used, in conjunction with an integral form of the equations of motion, to approximate this ...

Meta-uncertainty for particle image velocimetry [PDF]

open access: yesMeasurement Science and Technology, 2021
Abstract Uncertainty quantification for particle image velocimetry (PIV) is critical for comparing experimentally measured flow fields with computational fluid dynamics results, and model design and validation. However, PIV features a complex measurement chain with coupled, non-linear error sources, and quantifying the uncertainty is ...

Correlation image velocimetry: a spectral approach [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 2002
A method, believed to be new, is introduced to evaluate displacement fields from the analysis of a deformed image compared with a reference image. In contrast to standard methods, which determine a piecewise constant displacement field, the present method gives direct access to spectral decomposition of the displacement field.

Post-processing methods of PIV instantaneous flow fields for unsteady flows in turbomachines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Particle Image Velocimetry is undoubtedly one of the most important technique in Fluid-dynamics since it allows to obtain a direct and instantaneous visualization of the flow field in a non-intrusive way.

Adaptive particle image velocimetry based on sharpness metrics

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2018
Background Optical distortions can significantly deteriorate the measurement accuracy in particle image velocimetry systems. Such distortions can occur at fluctuating phase boundaries during flow measurement and result from the accompanied refractive ...

Robust Image-Based Streamflow Measurements for Real-Time Continuous Monitoring

open access: yesFrontiers in Water, 2021
The volumetric flow rate in rivers is essential to analyze hydrological processes and at the same time it is one of the most difficult variables to measure. Image based discharge measurements possess several advantages, one of them being that the sensor (
