Image restoration in radioisotopic imaging systems
Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1967In radioisotope image visualization, the final image must be interpreted by the human visual system. However, an inherent blurring of the image limits the amount of useful information which can be extracted from it. Attempts have been made to restore the image by compensating for the degradation.

Image compression for medical imaging systems
Journal of Medical Systems, 1987The physical size of typical digital images, in terms of the number of bytes of data one image contains, is large; e.g., a 1024 X 1024 image with 8 bits of data per pixel contains a megabyte of data. To transmit many such images over a network, sometimes over low-capacity phone lines to remote sites, or to store large numbers of images over a long ...

Imaging Nervous System Activity
Current Protocols in Neuroscience, 1997AbstractOptical imaging methods rely upon visualization of three types of signals: (1) intrinsic optical signals, including light scattering and reflectance, birefringence, and spectroscopic changes of intrinsic molecules, such as NADH or oxyhemoglobin; (2) changes in fluorescence or absorbance of voltage‐sensitive membrane dyes; and (3) changes in ...

In this paper, we present a novel face image validation system. The purpose of the system is to evaluate quality of face images for identification documents and to detect face images that do not satisfy the image quality requirements. To determine image quality the system first performs face detection in order to find facial features and determine ...

Latent-imaging photopolymer systems
Applied Optics, 1978A new high-resolution latent-imaging photopolymer system is reported for recording thick refractive-index patterns such as volume phase holograms and grating devices. A photosensitive polymerization initiator is chemisorbed on the surfaces of a porous glass matrix (average pore diameter 4 nm).

Imaging in electrosensory systems
Interdisciplinary Sciences: Computational Life Sciences, 2010This review addresses the biophysical mechanisms of image formation in electrosensory systems. These electrical images are used for navigation and object detection by many species of fish, some amphibians, and some mammals. In the active electrosensory systems of fish these images are formed by the fish's own electric organ discharge.
