Enantioselective phytotoxicity of the herbicide imazethapyr in rice

Chemosphere, 2009
Research increasingly suggests that enantiomer selectivity may be a part of the toxicological effects of chiral contaminants. In this study, we selected Japonica rice variety Xiushui 63 seedlings to evaluate the enantioselectivity of imazethapyr (IM).

Residues of Imazethapyr in Pigeon Pea and Soil

Pesticide Research Journal, 2023
Persistence of imazethapyr in pigeon pea and soil under South Gujarat conditions were studied. The LOQ value of imazethapyr worked out for soil, plant and dry pod was 0.01, 0.025, and 0.005 µg g-1. When applied at 75 and 150 g ai ha-1, imazethapyr followed the first order dissipation kinetics with the half-life (DT50) of 8.7 and 9.9 days for soil and 7.

Imazethapyr bioactivity and movement in soil

Weed Science, 1998
A bioassay using red beet root length indicated an increase in imazethapyr bioactivity in Berryland sand (BLS) as soil pH increased from 3.7 to 6.5. Increasing pH above 6.5 had no effect on imazethapyr bioactivity. The lowest imazethapyr concentrations detected by the bioassay at pH 6.5 were 0.5, 1, 2.5, and 5 to 10 μg kg−1in acidwashed quartz sand ...

Biodegradation Characteristics of Imazaquin and Imazethapyr

Weed Science, 1989
The extent of14C-imazaquin and14C-imazethapyr abiotic vs. biotic degradation in soil was investigated. Degradation was measured in an in vitro system which allowed 90% recovery of applied herbicide. Triallate biodegradation is well documented and therefore used as a standard.

Microbial degradation of imazaquin and imazethapyr

Weed Science, 1997
Laboratory studies were conducted to investigate the processes of imazaquin and imazethapyr degradation in soil. Microbial degradation of14C-imazaquin and14C-imazethapyr was monitored by measuring14CO2evolution compared to nonsterile soil.14CO2evolution was greatest from carboxyl-labeled imazaquin and imazethapyr compared to ring-labeled imazaquin and ...

Imazethapyr disrupts plant phosphorus homeostasis and acquisition strategies

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2023
The deficiency of essential mineral nutrients caused by xenobiotics often results in plant mortality or an inability to complete its life cycle. Imazethapyr, a widely utilized imidazolinone herbicide, has a long-lasting presence in the soil-plant system and can induce toxicity in non-target plants.

Transport of Imazethapyr in Undisturbed Soil Columns

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1992
Abstract The disappearance of imazethapyr [(±)‐2‐[4,5‐dihydro‐4‐methyl‐4‐(1‐methylethyl)‐5‐oxo‐1H‐imidazole‐2‐yl]‐5‐ethyl‐3‐pyridinecarboxylic acid] from soil solution was investigated to evaluate the transport of imazethapyr in undisturbed soil columns.

Time-dependent adsorption of imazethapyr to soil

Weed Science, 2000
Abstract Time-dependent adsorption of imazethapyr was studied in the laboratory on a sandy loam soil at 16% moisture for 30 d. Soil pH was adjusted to 4.5 to 6.8. Concentration of imazethapyr in soil water declined rapidly within the first day of incubation for all soil pH levels, indicating rapid initial adsorption.

Weed Control in Sericea Lespedeza with Imazethapyr

Weed Technology, 2005
Field studies were conducted to determine the feasibility of using imazethapyr applied preemergence (PRE) and postemergence (POST) for weed control in sericea lespedeza. In the POST experiment, imazethapyr was applied at 0, 71, 142, and 213 g ai/ha to mature, recently mowed stands of sericea lespedeza.

Enantioselectivity effects of imazethapyr enantiomers to metabolic responses in mice

Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 2020
Imazethapyr (IMZT) is a typical chiral pesticide with two enantiomers with the R-IMZT having the main herbicidal activity. However, the enantioselectivity of the effects of IMZT enantiomers on human and animals is still unclear. In this study, a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)-based metabolomics method and determination of oxidative stress were used ...
