Metabolism of imidacloprid in Apis mellifera [PDF]

open access: yesPest Management Science, 2003
AbstractBiotransformation of imidacloprid and the appearance of olefin and 5‐hydroxyimidacloprid metabolites in the honeybee were studied by HPLC‐MS/MS analysis. Honeybees were treated orally with imidacloprid at 20 and 50 µg kg−1 bee. Imidacloprid was metabolised relatively quickly and thoroughly.

Physiological Responses of the Firefly Pyrocoelia analis (Coleoptera: Lampyridae) to an Environmental Residue From Chemical Pesticide Imidacloprid

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
Imidacloprid, a neonicotinoid insecticide, is widely applied to control insect pests across a broad spectrum. Though the impact of residues from this chemical pesticide on non-target organisms in the field has been reported, it was not well characterized

Transgenerational Effects of a Neonicotinoid and a Novel Sulfoximine Insecticide on the Harlequin Ladybird

open access: yesInsects, 2021
The harlequin ladybird, Harmonia axyridis Pallas (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), is a generalist predator and an effective biocontrol agent of various insect pests that has been exploited for the control of aphid pests in the greenhouse and field.

Myasthenia-Like Presentation of Imidacloprid Toxicity

open access: yesCureus, 2023
Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide highly specific to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in insects and other invertebrates. Nicotinic receptors in mammalian species have a low affinity to neonicotinoids. However, cross-reactivity with mammalian nicotinic receptors is a major concern especially due to the propensity of this commonly used agent ...

Impaired olfactory associative behavior of honeybee workers due to contamination of imidacloprid in the larval stage.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The residue of imidacloprid in the nectar and pollens of the plants is toxic not only to adult honeybees but also the larvae. Our understanding of the risk of imidacloprid to larvae of the honeybees is still in a very early stage.

Lethality of Imidacloprid and Fipronil on Apis mellifera: a retrospective on the French case

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2020
The aim of this study is to draw a retrospective analysis on the lethality of imidacloprid (Gaucho®) and fipronil (Régent® TS) on Apis mellifera between 1992 and 2016 in France. Early monitoring reports in the 1992-2002 period notified these two embedded

Monitoring of imidacloprid residues in fresh fruits and vegetables from the central parts of Jordan

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Imidacloprid pesticide is widely utilized in agriculture due to its effectiveness in controlling a broad spectrum of insect pests. However, its usage has raised concerns about potential environmental impacts, and requires careful monitoring and ...

A Rare Presentation of Imidacloprid Poisoning

open access: yesCureus, 2023
Acute poisoning with pesticides and insecticides can sometimes result in unexpected clinical manifestations. Awareness regarding all possible signs and symptoms of poisoning with these compounds can help in timely diagnosis and treatment. Deliberate ingestion of imidacloprid, a neonicotinoid insecticide, despite being minimally lethal to humans, proved

Acute effects of the imidacloprid metabolite desnitro-imidacloprid on human nACh receptors relevant for neuronal signaling [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Toxicology, 2021
AbstractSeveral neonicotinoids have recently been shown to activate the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) on human neurons. Moreover, imidacloprid (IMI) and other members of this pesticide family form a set of diverse metabolites within crops. Among these, desnitro-imidacloprid (DN-IMI) is of special toxicological interest, as there is evidence (

Laboratory and field evaluation of the effects of the neonicotinoid imidacloprid on the oviposition response of Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti Linnaeus (Diptera: Culicidae)

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2011
In this paper, we assessed the suitability of using the neonicotinoid imidacloprid with standard ovitraps by evaluating the ovicidal properties of imidacloprid and its influence on the oviposition response of gravid females of Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti ...
