Imidazoles

2008
Imidazoles, benzimidazoles, imidazolines, imidazolidines, and related carbenes are classes of heterocyclic compounds possessing unique chemical and physical properties. Tremendous advances in imidazole chemistry have been made in the decade since 1995, and are manifested in the large body of the literature related to imidazole and its analogs.

Prebiotic synthesis of imidazole-4-acetaldehyde, imidazole-4-glycol and imidazole-4-ethanol

Origins of life and evolution of the biosphere, 1986
A wide var iety of chemical processes have been used for the synthesis of amino acids from prebiot ic molecular precursors under plausible pr imi t ive Earth conditions (M i l l e r , 1982). The prebiot ic formation of a l l protein-type amino acids has been demonstrated except for three amino acids: h is t id ine , lys ine, and arginine (Weber and Mi ...

Condensation of mononucleotides by imidazole

Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1971
The condensation of thymidine-5′-monophosphate was carried out in the presence of imidazole in aqueous solutions at neutral pH. Formation of oligo-deoxyribonucleotides up to four units was observed.

Imidazole-Functionalized Pillar[5]arenes: Highly Reactive and Selective Supramolecular Artificial Enzymes

, 2018
Phosphate diester hydrolysis is strongly accelerated, by a factor of 104, in the presence of artificial enzymes especially designed in the light of spatiotemporal concepts, anchoring imidazoles in a pillar[5]arene matrix.

The 4H-Imidazoles

1984
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the 4H-imidazoles that have a tetrahedral carbon atom in the ring and thus are nonaromatic. The synthesis of 4H-imidazoles can be done from transformation of imidazolone derivatives, ketones and amidines, imines and amidines, reaction between 1H-imidazoles and electrophiles, azirines, and methods for N-oxides.

Structure of imidazole methemoglobin

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1981
Abstract Crystals of horse methemoglobin shatter when soaked in crystallization buffer containing high concentrations of imidazole. By using less than saturating concentrations of imidazole, a stable imidazole derivative of crystalline methemoglobin was prepared and analyzed by X-ray difference Fourier techniques.

New complexes of copper cinnamates and imidazole or substituted imidazole

Thermochimica Acta, 1993
Abstract We have prepared five new organo-metallic complexes of imidazoles and a dicarboxylate, copper cinnamate, which may be considered as extremely simple models of the active centres in most biocatalysts. The thermal behaviour of the complexes was studied. Using ESR and diffuse reflectance spectra, monomeric or dimeric species were detected.
