Probing Early Particle‐Cell Membrane Interactions via Single‐Cell and Single‐Particle Interaction Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The pre‐internalization phase of endocytosis remains poorly characterized at single‐cell levels. Single‐cell pre‐internalization mechanics are investigated using advanced robotic techniques. Cancer cells exhibit biphasic adhesion – rapid initial binding followed by reinforcement – while fibroblasts show gradual engagement.

Interferon-Responsive Genes Are Targeted during the Establishment of Human Cytomegalovirus Latency

open access: yesmBio, 2019
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) latency is an active process which remodels the latently infected cell to optimize latent carriage and reactivation. This is achieved, in part, through the expression of viral genes, including the G-protein-coupled receptor ...

Pericyte‐Assisted Vascular Lumen Organization in a Novel Dynamic Human Blood‐Brain Barrier‐on‐Chip Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Organ‐on‐Chip (OoC) technology enables the precise modeling of the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). This study presents a microfluidic device that mimics brain microvessels, integrating co‐culture with pericytes and astrocytes under pulsatile flow. Results show that perivascular cells modulate endothelial morphology, promoting lumen formation and barrier ...

Effects of Adenovirus Type 5 E1A Isoforms on Viral Replication in Arrested Human Cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Human adenovirus has evolved to infect and replicate in terminally differentiated human epithelial cells, predominantly those within the airway, the gut, or the eye.

“Therapies Through Gut:” Targeted Drug Delivery for Non‐Gastrointestinal Diseases by Oral Administration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the mechanism of targeted delivery of nanoparticles including 1) paracellular, 2) endolysosomal escape, 3) receptor mediated endocytosis, and 4) M cell mediated transport for non‐GI diseases by oral administration such as atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, and brain diseases. Abstract Oral drug delivery is a promising approach

An acidic region of the 89K murine cytomegalovirus immediate early protein interacts with DNA

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1992
The product of the ie1 gene, the regulatory immediate early protein pp89 of murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV), interacts with core histones, which can mediate the association of pp89 with DNA. We report the capacity of pp89 to interact directly with DNA in the absence of cellular proteins. After separation of proteins by SDS-PAGE, pp89 bound ds- and ssDNA,

Poly (A) binding protein 2 is critical for stem cell differentiation during regeneration in the planarian Schmidtea mediterranea

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
Post-transcriptional regulation has emerged as a key mechanism for regulating stem cell renewal and differentiation, which is essential for understanding tissue regeneration and homeostasis.
