Late phase inhibition of murine cytomegalovirus replication by synergistic action of interferon-gamma and tumour necrosis factor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We have shown previously that the antiviral function of CD4+ T lymphocytes against murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) is associated with the release of interferon- (IFN-).

Strategies to Design and Optimize Artificial Antigen‐Presenting Cells for T Cell Expansion in Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in engineering artificial antigen‐presenting cells (aAPCs) as alternatives to dendritic cells for T cell expansion. Key design principles inspired by the immunological synapse are discussed, with emphasis on strategies for polyclonal and antigen‐specific T cell expansion.

Interferon-Responsive Genes Are Targeted during the Establishment of Human Cytomegalovirus Latency

open access: yesmBio, 2019
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) latency is an active process which remodels the latently infected cell to optimize latent carriage and reactivation. This is achieved, in part, through the expression of viral genes, including the G-protein-coupled receptor ...

Host immune response to cytomegalovirus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
To confirm that immediate-early (IE) genes of murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) give rise to antigens recognized by specific cytolytic T lymphocytes (CTL), a 10.8-kilobase fragment of MCMV DNA which is abundantly transcribed at IE times was transfected into ...

Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.

BMP2 and mechanical loading cooperatively regulate immediate early signalling events in the BMP pathway

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2012
Background Efficient osteogenic differentiation is highly dependent on coordinated signals arising from growth factor signalling and mechanical forces. Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are secreted proteins that trigger Smad and non-Smad pathways and ...

Murine cytomegalovirus major immediate-early protein 3 interacts with cellular and viral proteins in viral DNA replication compartments and is important for early gene activation

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2010
Murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) immediate-early protein 3 (IE3) is essential for successful viral infection. This study developed MCMVs with an EGFP-fused IE3 gene in order to study IE3 gene expression, subnuclear distribution and biological function, as ...

Rainbow Kaposi's Sarcoma-Associated Herpesvirus Revealed Heterogenic Replication with Dynamic Gene Expression. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Molecular mechanisms of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) reactivation have been studied primarily by measuring the total or average activity of an infected cell population, which often consists of a mixture of both nonresponding and ...
