Spectral recording of gene expression history by fluorescent timer protein
Monitoring spatio-temporal patterns of gene expression by fluorescent proteins requires longitudinal observation, which is often difficult to implement.

Evidence for DNA-mediated nuclear compartmentalization distinct from phase separation. [PDF]
RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) and transcription factors form concentrated hubs in cells via multivalent protein-protein interactions, often mediated by proteins with intrinsically disordered regions.

Inspired by the skin‐toughening mechanism of marine sponges, an ion‐orchestrated structural engineering strategy is proposed to regulate the surface microstructure of hydrogel coatings, enabling the in situ formation of a robust armor layer that enhances mechanical integrity and provides multifunctional protection by suppressing fouling attachment and ...

Linear signaling in the Toll-Dorsal pathway of Drosophila: activated Pelle kinase specifies all threshold outputs of gene expression while the bHLH protein Twist specifies a subset [PDF]
Differential activation of the Toll receptor leads to the formation of a broad Dorsal nuclear gradient that specifies at least three patterning thresholds of gene activity along the dorsoventral axis of precellular embryos.

Cytomegalovirus immediate early gene UL37 encodes a novel MHC-like protein.
The cytomegalovirus (CMV) genome encodes four clusters of genes expressed immediately after infection--i.e.: UL36-38, UL122-123, TRS1-IRS1, and US3. The general function of these genes is associated with inhibition of cellular mechanisms of antiviral response.

Cold Quad‐Modal Nanocomplex for Precise and Quantitative In Vivo Stem Cell Tracking
Multimodal albumin–bismuth sulfide–superparamagnetic iron oxide (ABS) nanocomplexes are developed for stem cell tracking across four different imaging modalities: MRI, MPI, MSOT, and CT. Combining its flexibility with high sensitivity, this quad‐modal imaging agent enables a robust quantification of ABS‐labeled stem cells in vivo.
