Evaluating the safety, efficacy, and risk factors of different strategies for breast reconstruction following polyacrylamide hydrogel removal: A 20-year retrospective cohort study of 436 cases

open access: yesAsian Journal of Surgery
Background: Globally implemented for breast augmentation, polyacrylamide hydrogel (PAAG) always leads to breast deformity upon its removal. Despite a pressing need for breast reconstruction following PAAG removal to address aesthetic issues, the optimal ...

Chemical and Biological Determinants of PEG‐Lipid Shedding From Therapeutic Nanoparticles

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
PEG‐lipids play a central role in governing lipid nanoparticle stability, targeting, and function. However, PEG‐lipids can “shed” from the nanoparticle surface in biological environments, with the extent and kinetics of shedding influenced by chemical and biological factors.

Context‐Dependent Radioenhancement by Platinum Nanoparticles Under Conventional and Ultra‐High Dose‐Rate “FLASH” Radiotherapy

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Overview of the experimental workflow and main findings of the study investigating Pt‐NPs‐mediated radioenhancement under conventional 134 dose‐rate (CONV) and ultrahigh dose‐rate (UHDR) 9 MeV electron irradiation. Pt‐NP distribution and uptake were characterized in 4T1 spheroids and syngeneic tumor models.

Immediate breast reconstruction in Poland — description of the protocol for the prospective, multicenter, cohort study PSSO_04 under the auspices of the Polish Society of Surgical Oncology

open access: yesNowotwory
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Poland, and the number of annual diagnoses is projected to rise. Due to early detection and multidisciplinary treatments, over 60% of cases can undergo breast-conserving procedures.

Advances in research on layered double hydroxides for biomedical applications

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are pH‐responsive nanomaterials with broad biomedical applications. This review summarizes LDH synthesis methods and compares their advantages. It highlights LDHs' progress in cancer therapy, including chemo‐photothermal, chemo‐immunotherapy, and photodynamic‐immunotherapy combinations and their potential in bone repair.

Single‐Vesicle Functional Nanophenotyping Reveals Heterogeneous PD‐L1 Accessibility in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Graphical Abstract. High‐speed atomic force microscopy enables real‐time, label‐free visualization of antibody interactions with individual extracellular vesicles. By quantifying binding frequency and dwell time, this approach reveals functional PD‐L1 accessibility that cannot be inferred from protein abundance alone, uncovering nanoscale heterogeneity

[Immediate breast reconstruction and radiotherapy].

open access: yesKlinicka onkologie : casopis Ceske a Slovenske onkologicke spolecnosti, 2009
Immediate breast reconstruction has become widespread in breast cancer patients since the eighties of the last century. Now the criteria for adjuvant chest wall radiotherapy are changing as the problem of interference between reconstruction and radiotherapy appears.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Four‐dimensional immuno‐mechanobiomaterials: Dynamic material cues that program host response to prevent fibrosis and enable regeneration

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Dynamic immuno‐mechanobiomaterials with time‐programmed mechanical adaptation orchestrate host responses through precise mechanotransduction and immune‐stromal regulation. These adaptive biomaterials minimize mechanical mismatch, attenuate the forign dy response and fibrosis, promote angiogenesis and controlled extracellular matrix remodeling, and ...

Comparison of Long‐Term Health‐Related Quality of Life After Mastectomy and Breast Conserving Therapy

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Long‐term BREAST‐Q outcomes after breast‐conserving therapy (BCT) and mastectomy without reconstruction. Women treated with BCT reported higher psychosocial, sexual, and physical well‐being and greater satisfaction with their breasts than women treated with mastectomy.
