The volume-filtering immersed boundary method
We present a novel framework to deal with static and moving immersed boundaries (IB). In this strategy, called Volume-Filtering Immersed Boundary (VFIB) method, transport equations are derived by filtering the Navier-Stokes equations and accounting for stresses at the solid-fluid interface.

High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Non-affine horocycle orbit closures on strata of translation surfaces: new examples [PDF]
We investigate specific examples of locally-defined real vector-fields on strata of translation surfaces. Integrating SL(2,R)-loci of Veech surfaces along these vector-fields yield interesting new examples of horocyle-invariant ergodic measures.

In this paper we obtain a sharp height estimate concerning compact hypersurfaces immersed into warped product spaces with some constant higher order mean curvature, and whose boundary is contained into a slice.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Motivated by the current lack of knowledge regarding phase transition in a free surface water flow, a novel and efficient numerical model for liquid-solid phase transition in a free surface flow has been developed for the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM ...

Depth of pleated surfaces in toroidal cusps of hyperbolic 3-manifolds
Let $F$ be a closed essential surface in a hyperbolic 3-manifold $M$ with a toroidal cusp $N$. The depth of $F$ in $N$ is the maximal distance from points of $F$ in $N$ to the boundary of $N$.

The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Boundary curves of surfaces with the 4-plane property
Let M be an orientable and irreducible 3-manifold whose boundary is an incompressible torus. Suppose that M does not contain any closed nonperipheral embedded incompressible surfaces.
