Janus Photonic Graphics by Stratified Assembly of Two Distinct Colloids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Double‐sided Janus photonic micropatterns with vivid structural colors are fabricated through a single‐step bottom‐up strategy. Density‐driven stratification and depletion‐mediated crystallization of PMMA and PS binary colloids lead to exclusive lattices on opposite surfaces under centrifugal force.

Anion‐Exchange‐Enabled Hydrogel Electrolytes With High Zn2+ Transference for Dendrite‐Free Flexible Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐Zn2+‐transference hydrogel electrolyte of ex‐PDADAM is developed via anion exchange at quaternary ammonium sites, achieving high Zn2+ transference number (0.86), ionic conductivity (8.10 mS cm−1), and toughness (51.25 MJ m−3). Symmetric cells are operated stably for over 2000 h, while flexible pouch cells retain 90.9% capacity after 300 cycles ...

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

IL-33-ST2 signaling in fibro-adipogenic progenitors alleviates immobilization-induced muscle atrophy in mice

open access: yesSkeletal Muscle
Background The regenerative and adaptive capacity of skeletal muscles reduces with age, leading to severe disability and frailty in the elderly. Therefore, development of effective therapeutic interventions for muscle wasting is important both medically ...

Production of nitrogen containing chemicals from cyanophycin

open access: yes, 2011
Currently nitrogen containing bulk chemicals are produced from naphtha. However, as explained in Chapter 1 it would be more energy efficient, less capital intensive and eventually more economical to start from functionalized compounds that already have

Immobilization-Free Binding and Affinity Characterization of Higher Order Bispecific Antibody Complexes Using Size-Based Microfluidics

open access: yes
Simultaneous targeting of different antigens by bispecific antibodies (bsAbs) is permitting synergistic binding functionalities with high therapeutic potential, but is also rendering their analysis challenging.

Reactivity and immobiliztion of group IV single-center olefin polyerization catalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A large fraction of the commercially manufactured crystalline polyolefins are produced in large-scale slurry and gas-phase processes, which require the polymerization catalyst to be anchored on a solid support to obtain a satisfactory product morphology.
