Diversité des souches d’Encéphalopathie Spongiforme Transmissible chez les ruminants : enjeux, bilan et perspectives

open access: yesINRAE Productions Animales, 2004
Les Encéphalopathies Spongiformes Transmissibles (EST) ou maladies à prion se caractérisent par l’accumulation dans le tissu nerveux d’une forme anormalement repliée d’une protéine cellulaire de l’hôte, la PrPc.

Evaluation of glutaraldehyde coagulation test and colostrum BRIX refractometer compared with SNAP foal IgG test in neonatal foals

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 56, Issue 5, Page 1077-1082, September 2024.
Abstract Background Prompt diagnosis of passive transfer failure in the neonatal period is important for early treatment. Objectives To compare the diagnostic performance of serum glutaraldehyde coagulation test (GCT) and colostrum BRIX% for failure to transfer passive immunity (FTPI) diagnosis with the results of SNAP foal test and to evaluate the ...

Anti‐aging and rejuvenating effects and mechanism of Dead Sea water in skin

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 46, Issue 2, Page 307-317, April 2024.
This work evaluated the anti‐aging and rejuvenating effects of Dead Sea Water (DSW) using normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs) and 3D skin models. The results have showed the potential mechanism behind the age‐related biological functions of DSW is associated with multiple biological pathways in the skin by RNA‐sequencing analysis.

Epi‐parasitic mistletoes don't parasitise their host's host and this supports the immunity hypothesis for host choice

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract Mistletoes have much higher transpiration rates than their hosts. This is the basis for the ecological “compatibility hypothesis” for host choice. The inability of mistletoes to penetrate a host and connect to its vascular system is the competing “immunity hypothesis”.

Tridimensional infiltration of DNA viruses into the host genome shows preferential contact with active chromatin

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Whether DNA viruses contact specific regions of host genomes or make random contacts is unclear. Here, the authors use Hi-C and show that HBV cccDNA and Ad5 DNA contact preferentially active chromatin at CpG islands for the former and at transcription ...
