Immunocytochemistry of intracranial meningiomas

Journal of Neuro-Oncology, 1987
Fifty meningiomas of four major histological types have been examined by immunocytochemical methods applied to formalin fixed paraffin embedded material and using readily available commercial antisera. The expression of GFAP, S100, NSE, vimentin, cytokeratin, fibronectin and desmoplakin was investigated.

Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry

2003
Immunohistochemistry allows the specific histochemical localization of many diverse classes of organic substances, including inflammatory markers ranging from biogenic amines to macromolecular cytokines and their receptors. Corresponding ligands and their receptors can be demonstrated simultaneously by double-labeling protocols (1), since the fixation ...

Pitfalls in Immunocytochemistry

2020
The interpretation of the immunocytochemical reactions used in diagnostic cytopathology must be done correctly, because technical artifacts, false-positive or false-negative results, and interpretative errors can lead to incorrect diagnoses. The main sources of technical artifacts lie in the pre-analytic phase (collection of the cytologic sample ...

Laboratory control of immunocytochemistry

European Journal of Haematology, 1989
Monoclonal antibody technology is now used in many haematology departments for the analysis and phenotyping of haematological malignancies. Immunocytochemical analysis, in particular the alkaline phosphatase anti‐alkaline phosphatase (APAAP) technique is increasing in popularity.

Immunocytochemistry of neurotropic melanoma

Cancer, 1984
Schwann cell differentiation has been proposed in the histogenesis of neurotropic melanoma by light and electron microscopic studies, and melanosomes are rarely, if ever, detected in the spindle cell component of this tumor. S-100 immunoreactivity has previously been demonstrated in Schwann cells of benign neurogenic tumors and most malignant melanomas.
