Characterization of Tear Immunoglobulins in a Small-Cohort of Keratoconus Patients

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Keratoconus (KC) is classically considered a non-inflammatory condition caused by central corneal thinning that leads to astigmatism and reduced visual acuity.

The immunoglobulin heavy chain locus in the platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus)

open access: yesMolecular Immunology, 2009
Immunoglobulins loci in mammals are well known to be organized within a translocon, however their origin remains unresolved. Four of the five classes of immunoglobulins described in humans and rodents (immunoglobulins M, G, E and A-IgM, IgG, IgE and IgA) were found in marsupials and monotremes (immunoglobulin D-IgD was not found) thus showing that the ...

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

The immunoglobulin heavy chain locus in the reptile Anolis carolinensis

open access: yesMolecular Immunology, 2009
We describe the entire immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgH) locus from the reptile Anolis carolinensis. The heavy chain constant (C(H)) region includes C mu, C delta and C upsilon genes. This is the first description of a C upsilon gene in the reptilian class. Variable (V(H)), diversity (D(H)) and joining (J(H)) genes are located 5' from the constant (C(H))

Possible role of human ribonuclease dicer in the regulation of R loops

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
R loops play an important role in regulating key cellular processes such as replication, transcription, centromere stabilization, or control of telomere length. However, the unscheduled accumulation of R loops can cause many diseases, including cancer, and neurodegenerative or inflammatory disorders. Interestingly, accumulating data indicate a possible

Inhibition by small-molecule ligands of formation of amyloid fibrils of an immunoglobulin light chain variable domain. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Overproduction of immunoglobulin light chains leads to systemic amyloidosis, a lethal disease characterized by the formation of amyloid fibrils in patients' tissues. Excess light chains are in equilibrium between dimers and less stable monomers which can

Immune Repertoire Profiling Reveals that Clonally Expanded B and T Cells Infiltrating Diseased Human Kidneys Can Also Be Tracked in Blood. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Recent advances in high-throughput sequencing allow for the competitive analysis of the human B and T cell immune repertoire. In this study we compared Immunoglobulin and T cell receptor repertoires of lymphocytes found in kidney and blood samples of 10 ...

Sono‐Piezo‐Photosynthesis of Ethylene and Acetylene from Bioethanol under Ambient Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel sono‐piezo‐photocatalytic strategy enables the conversion of bioethanol to ethylene (C2H4) and acetylene (C2H2) under ambient conditions, addressing the limitations of conventional methods that are high‐temperature and energy‐intensive. By using an advanced graphene oxide/sodium bismuth titanate heterostructure catalyst, this work achieved ...

Complete analysis of the B-cell response to a protein antigen, from in vivo germinal centre formation to 3-D modelling of affinity maturation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Somatic hypermutation of immunoglobulin variable region genes occurs within germinal centres (GCs) and is the process responsible for affinity maturation of antibodies during an immune response.
