Serodiagnosis of infectious mononucleosis by using recombinant Epstein-Barr virus antigens and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Four recombinant, diagnostically useful Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) proteins representative of the viral capsid antigen (p150), diffuse early antigen (p54), the major DNA-binding protein (p138), and the EBV nuclear antigen (p72) (W. Hinderer, H.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Derived Apoptotic Micro‐Vesicles Repaired Sciatic Nerve Defect by Regulating Early Inflammatory Microenvironment and Promoting Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
HUCMSC‐Apo‐mvs enhance peripheral nerve repair by modulating the inflammatory microenvironment (IME), primarily through coordinated actions on three functional cells. They recruit macrophages and promote their polarization from pro‐inflammatory M1 to anti‐inflammatory M2 phenotypes, increasing secretion of IL‐10 and VEGF.

Osteopontin and `Melanoma Inhibitory Activity': Comparison of Two Serological Tumor Markers in Metastatic Uveal Melanoma Patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background: Evaluation of the protein osteopontin (OPN) as a potential new marker in comparison to melanoma inhibitory activity (MIA) for screening and detection of metastatic uveal melanoma. Methods: Plasma levels of 32 patients with uveal melanoma were

Detection and Quantification of Foot and Mouth Disease Virus by Enzyme Labelled Immunosorbent Assay Techniques

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1979
Enzyme labelled immunosorbent assays (ELISA) have been developed to detect and quantify foot and mouth disease (FMD) virus using flexible plastic microtitre plates. The methods were successful for the specific detection of FMD virus and were 50 to 100 times more sensitive than the complement fixation test. The application of the ELISA techniques to FMD

A 3D Astrocyte Microenvironment Model Enables Rapid Ca2+‐Resolved Analysis and Therapeutic Modulation of Oxidative Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents ARC‐3D, a soft 3D model that recreates how brain support cells, called astrocytes, react to oxidative stress. The system visualizes rapid calcium changes and inflammatory signals, and shows how the drug KDS12025 can protect cells from damage. ARC‐3D offers a simple, reliable way to study early drivers of brain inflammation.

Infectiousness in a Cohort of Brazilian Dogs: Why Culling Fails to Control Visceral Leishmaniasis in Areas of High Transmission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The elimination of seropositive dogs in Brazil has been used to control zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis but with little success. To elucidate the reasons for this, the infectiousness of 50 sentinel dogs exposed to natural Leishmania chagasi infection was

A Solid-phase Immunosorbent Technique for the Rapid Detection of Rubella IgM by Haemagglutination Inhibition

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1979
The rubella haemagglutination inhibition (HAI) test has been modified for the detection of rubella-specific IgM. The rubella HAI test is performed in microtitre plate wells in which IgM from patients' sera has been selectively retained by anti-human IgM bound to the polystyrene surface. The test requires only anti-human IgM-coated microtitre plates, in

Amine‐Functionalized Chitosan/dECM Composite Promotes Cutaneous Regeneration and Hair Follicle Activation by Regulating Oxidative Stress and Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐functionalized chitosan and hydrolyzed dECM composite promotes cutaneous regeneration by modulating oxidative stress and inflammatory pathways. The material accelerates wound closure and stimulates hair follicle activation in UV‐damaged cutaneous tissue.

Nano‐Engineered Titanium Implants Loaded With Gingival Fibroblasts‐Derived Microvesicles Enhance Early Osseointegration And Soft Tissue Attachment In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Our study showed that human primary gingival fibroblast–derived microvesicles on nano‐engineered titanium implants promote early osseointegration and soft‐tissue attachment in vivo. ABSTRACT Titanium dental implants require both reliable osseointegration and peri‐implant soft tissue seal formation to ensure long‐term success. While osseointegration has
