Impact Time and Angle Control Guidance

AIAA Guidance, Navigation, and Control Conference, 2015
In this paper, a guidance strategy, which extends the existing impact angle control guidance laws to cater to the impact time constraints as well, is proposed. This guidance scheme is based on switching between sliding mode control based impact time control guidance law and the impact angle control guidance laws.

Practical guidance law controlling impact angle

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2007
Impact angle is defined as the angle between the velocity vectors of a missile and a target at the instance of interception. The objective of the impact angle control guidance (IACG) law is to guide the missile into a collision course with a specified impact angle. In this paper, a new IACG law considering practical implementation is proposed.

Fractional Guidance Law with Impact Angle Constraint and Seeker’s Look Angle Limits

Unmanned Systems, 2023
In this paper, using fractional mathematics, the guidance law of collision angle control is proposed by simultaneously taking into account the limitation of the seeker’s look angle. In order to apply the limitations of impact angle and launch in the equations of the acceleration command, the movement path from the time of launch to reaching the target

The Effect of Impact Angle on Knee Tolerance to Rigid Impacts

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003
While the number of deaths from vehicle accidents is declining, probably because of mandatory seat belt laws and air bags, a high frequency of lower extremity injuries from frontal crashes still occurs. For the years 1979-1995 the National Accident Sampling System (NASS) indicates that knee injuries (AIS 1-4) occur in approximately 10% of cases ...

Ricochet Angle at Hypervelocity Impact

2024 17th Hypervelocity Impact Symposium
Abstract This work presents results of hypervelocity impact experiments, which investigate the relationship between residual velocity and impact velocity as the target obliquity is varied, with the intention to find an obliquity that results in a ricochet. Both experimental and numerical results are presented.

Impacted third molars and risk of angle fracture

International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2002
The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of the presence, position, and severity of impaction of the mandibular third molars, on the incidence of mandibular angle fractures. A retrospective cohort study was designed for patients presenting to the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Toronto General Hospital (Toronto, Canada), for ...

Angle-closure glaucoma: impact, etiology, diagnosis, and treatment

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2003
Recent studies underscore the importance of angle-closure glaucoma (ACG) as a cause of world blindness. A major contribution in assessing the true impact of this disease has been an article estimating the number of persons with occludable angles, angle closure, and blindness from ACG in China as 28.2 million, 9.1 million, and 1.7 million, respectively.

Effect of impact angle on vaporization

Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets, 1996
Impacts into easily vaporized targets such as dry ice and carbonates generate a rapidly expanding vapor cloud. Laboratory experiments performed in a tenuous atmosphere allow deriving the internal energy of this cloud through well‐established and tested theoretical descriptions.

Guidance Law to Control Impact Time and Angle

2005 International Conference on Control and Automation, 2005
This paper proposes a new guidance law to control both impact time and impact angle for a flight vehicle's homing problem, which can be applied for an efficient salvo attack of antiship missiles or a cooperative mission of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Impact of Lipid on Contact Angle Wettability

Optometry and Vision Science, 2007
To analyze the effect of in vitro lipid doping on conventional hydrogel (CH) and silicone hydrogel (SH) lens wettability, assessed by sessile drop contact angle (CA) measurement.Nine contact lens materials, five SHs and four CH, were incubated with two different lipid tear solutions (LTS) containing cholesterol, cholesteryl oleate, oleic acid, oleic ...
