Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Impact of the diaphyseal femoral deformity on the lower limb alignment in osteoarthritic varus knees
Aims: The impact of a diaphyseal femoral deformity on knee alignment varies according to its severity and localization. The aims of this study were to determine a method of assessing the impact of diaphyseal femoral deformities on knee alignment for the ...

Generalized Formulation of Weighted Optimal Guidance Laws with Impact Angle Constraint
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the generalized formulation of weighted optimal guidance laws with impact angle constraint. From the generalized formulation, we explicitly find the feasible set of weighting functions that lead to analytical ...

Impact of basic angle variations on the parallax zero point for a scanning astrometric satellite [PDF]
Determination of absolute parallaxes by means of a scanning astrometric satellite such as Hipparcos or Gaia relies on the short-term stability of the so-called basic angle between the two viewing directions. Uncalibrated variations of the basic angle may

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Structure determination from powder data : Mogul and CASTEP [PDF]
When solving the crystal structure of complex molecules from powder data, accurately locating the global minimum can be challenging, particularly where the number of internal degrees of freedom is large.

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
