A low-cost approach for determining the impact of Functional Approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Approximate Computing (AxC) trades off between the level of accuracy required by the user and the actual precision provided by the computing system to achieve several optimizations such as performance improvement, energy, and area reduction etc.. Several

Fracture prediction approach for oil-bearing reservoirs based on AVAZ attributes in an orthorhombic medium

open access: yesPetroleum Science, 2018
Fracture systems in nature are complicated. Normally vertical fractures develop in an isotropic background. However, the presence of horizontal fine layering or horizontal fractures in reservoirs makes the vertical fractures develop in a VTI (a ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Analytical estimation of the distribution of thermal neutron flow

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
The neutron’s evaluation of impact on the internal reflector as an example of the plate reactor in single-group approximation. As a result there were obtained wave equations analytical solutions and graphic solution of the formulated problem.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Taking into Account the Variations of Neighbourhood Sizes in the Mean-Field Approximation of the Threshold Model on a Random Network [PDF]

open access: yes
We compare the individual-based \'threshold model\' of innovation diffusion in the version which has been studied by Young (1998), with an aggregate model we derived from it.

Impact of exchange-correlation functionals on predictions of phonon hydrodynamics: a study of fluorides, chlorides, and hydrides

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
We employ density functional theory calculations to examine the effect of various exchange-correlation (XC) functionals, including the Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof generalized gradient approximation (PBE), the modified Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof generalized ...

Relativistic Ionization of Hydrogen Atoms by Positron Impact

open access: yesAtoms, 2016
Relativistic triple differential cross-sections (TDCS) for ionization of hydrogen atoms by positron impact have been calculated in the symmetric coplanar geometry. We have used Dirac wave functions to describe free electron’s and positron’s sates.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...
