Impact ionization coefficients and critical electric field in GaN
, 2021Avalanche multiplication characteristics in a reverse-biased homoepitaxial GaN p–n junction diode are experimentally investigated at 223–373 K by novel photomultiplication measurements utilizing above- and below-bandgap illumination. The device has a non-

Ionization and dissociative ionization of by electron impact
Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 1997Absolute cross sections for CO2+, C2+ and O2+ formation from CO+ by electron impact have been measured in the energy range from below the respective ionization or dissociative ionization thresholds to approximately 2500 eV. The animated crossed-beams method has been employed.

AlInAsSb Impact Ionization Coefficients
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2019Digital alloy AlInAsSb avalanche photodiodes exhibit low excess noise comparable to those fabricated from Si. The electron and hole ionization coefficients are critical parameters for simulation and analysis of high-sensitivity receivers.

Positron-impact ionization of Na
Physical Review A, 1992In this paper we present the total cross sections for the positron-impact ionization of Na in the range 8--30 eV of the energy of the incident positron. Calculations are done by using a distorted-wave approximation incorporating the effects of screening and distortion.

Impact ionization in THz QWIPs
2009 34th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2009Recently phase transitions in THz Quantum Wells Inter-subband Photodetectors (QWIP) were observed. Very large current discontinuities - up to five orders of magnitude - were obtained, at low temperature [1]. Quantum well impact ionization shifts the structure from a resistive “down” state, where the current flows through inter-well quantum tunneling to

Electron-impact ionization and dissociative ionization of acetylene
Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 1996A pulsed electron beam and ion extraction system has been employed to measure cross sections for formation of C, , , C, and by electron impact on acetylene in the energy range varying from threshold to 800 eV. The relative flow technique has been used to obtain normalized values of cross sections.

The electron dynamics for electron energies up to 5 eV has been studied by soft x-ray photoemission spectroscopy. Monte Carlo simulations have been performed to derive the energy dependence of the pair-production rate using these results in combination with published data on the ionization coefficient and on the quantum yield for pair production.
