The impact of standardized footwear on load and load symmetry
Clinical Biomechanics, 2021The inability to standardize footwear is a potential issue when measuring landing kinetics in non-laboratory settings. This study determined the impact of not standardizing footwear on load and load symmetry during landing. A secondary purpose of this study was to introduce the Load Analysis Program, an open-source MATLAB® user-interface for computing ...

This paper covers an analysis of different types of slamming experiments with account taken of different model structural characteristics and the effect of air entrapped in the water. Model data for peak impact pressure are found to correlate on the basis of an absolute pressure ratio and a velocity ratio that accounts for inertial effects.

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Transport, 1993
The WILD system, which was Introduced to monitor and control damaging track forces by identifylng defective wheels in passing trains accordlng to pre-set limits and reporting immediately by a modem link, is described. Associated cost savings are estimated, recent Improvements are described and future developments are outlined.

Wheelchair Caster Loading During Frontal Impact
Assistive Technology, 2003Many wheelchair users are required or choose to use their wheelchairs as a motor vehicle seat during transport. It is therefore key that the wheelchair components be designed to tolerate crash-level loading conditions. Casters are particularly prone to failure under crash loading conditions.

Impacts of load reduction offers on load profile
2011 10th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2011Demand Response (DR) has gained so much importance due to its effect on load profile characteristics. The focus of this paper is on impacts of flexible load participation in day-ahead energy market, in which bulk power consumers introduce their load reduction as generation.

Abstract This article discusses the material and engineering issues associated with plastic components subjected to impact. The first part covers the effects of loading rate, temperature, and state of stress on both deformation and mode of failure. It discusses standard impact tests, along with their associated results.

Reliability of composite structures — impact loading
Computers & Structures, 2000This paper deals with a method to study the responses of laminated composite structures under impact loading. A preliminary study takes into account the influence of the coupling mass-velocity on some responses such as the contact force between striker and structure, the displacement of the projectile, and the damage induced inside the composite.

Mechanisms operating under multiple numbers of collisions, for which the frequency is of the same order as their eigenfrequencies, are usually referred to vibro-impact systems. These systems include, as a rule, units with external or internal one-side contacts that lead to the arising and vanishing of gaps accompanied by repeated impacts.
