Shot Blasting for Enhancing Wear Resistance and Impact Resistance of SCMnH11 High-Manganese Steel

open access: yesMetals
In this study, shot blasting was employed to enhance the wear resistance and impact toughness of SCMnH11 high-manganese steel. The steel was first fabricated via vacuum casting, followed by forging and water-toughening treatment.

EXPERIMENTAL TESTING OF BURGLAR RESISTANCE OF FENESTRATION

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB: Technical University of Ostrava, Safety Engineering Series, 2019
Currently, windows and glass facades are increasingly being used as a building envelope. These are elements that are functional and aesthetic, but there is a need to focus on their safety.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Influence of Freezing Time on Hardness and Impact Resistance of 3D-Printed PLA+

open access: yesDüzce Üniversitesi Bilim ve Teknoloji Dergisi
This preliminary study investigates the effect of freezing duration on the impact and strength performance of 3D-printed PLA+ specimens produced with 50% and 100% infill densities in a honeycomb pattern using the FDM technique. Samples were stored at -80

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Bacterial Resistance: Origins, Epidemiology, and Impact [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2003
The basic mechanisms of antibacterial resistance are well known, but critical new aspects continue to be discovered. Recently discovered factors with major implications for the emergence, dissemination, and maintenance of resistance include multidrug efflux, hypermutability, integrons, and plasmid addiction.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

How does SCYLV genetic diversity impact on Sugarcane disease resistance and breeding? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
To date, six distinct genotypes of the Sugarcane yellow leaf virus have been described in the literature (BRA, CUB, CHN1, IND, PER and REU). However, little information is available regarding the impact of virus genetic diversity on disease resistance ...
