Identification of a meteoritic component using chromium isotopic composition of impact rocks from the Lonar impact structure, India

open access: yesMeteoritics and Planetary Science, 2019
The existence of mass‐independent chromium isotope variability of nucleosynthetic origin in meteorites and their components provides a means to investigate potential genetic relationship between meteorites and planetary bodies.

Bouguer anomaly inversion and hydrocode modeling of the central uplift of the Araguainha impact structure

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2021
Araguainha is a mid-sized complex impact structure formed in sedimentary and underlying basement rocks of the Paraná Basin, Brazil. The structure has strongly deformed sedimentary strata surrounding a granitic core. The central uplift is a region of high

Documentation of shock features in impactites from the Dhala impact structure, India

open access: yesMeteoritics and Planetary Science, 2019
The fundamental approach for the confirmation of any terrestrial meteorite impact structure is the identification of diagnostic shock metamorphic features, together with the physical and chemical characterization of impactites and target lithologies ...

Grasping asymmetric information in market impacts [PDF]

open access: yesEur. Phys. J. B (2018) 91: 266, 2017
The price impact for a single trade is estimated by the immediate response on an event time scale, i.e., the immediate change of midpoint prices before and after a trade. We work out the price impacts across a correlated financial market. We quantify the asymmetries of the distributions and of the market structures of cross-impacts, and find that the ...

Predictive design of impact absorbers for mitigating resonances of flexible structures using a semi-analytical approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Analytical conditions are available for the optimum design of impact absorbers for the case where the host structure is well described as rigid body. Accordingly, the analysis relies on the assumption that the impacts cause immediate dissipation in the contact region, which is modeled in terms of a known coefficient of restitution. When a flexible host

Scaling and Structural Impact

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2017
Abstract Experiments dealing with impact of large structures, like ships and buses, are cost prohibitive. One possibility is to test scaled models, which unfortunately do not obey the scaling laws due to material strain rate sensitivity. A set of scaling numbers is here presented that allow perfect similarity between model and strain rate sensitive ...

Impactites of the Mistastin Lake impact structure: Insights into impact ejecta emplacement

open access: yesMeteoritics and Planetary Science, 2018
The Mistastin Lake impact structure is an intermediate‐size (~28 km apparent crater diameter), complex crater formed ~36 Myr. The original crater has been differentially eroded; however, a subdued terraced rim and distinct central uplift are still ...

High-structure and its impact on performance gaps in large-enrollment frosh courses [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We introduce the concept of structure-regions and their impact on student experience in large-enrollment frosh courses. These regions involve three major components: active learning, low-stakes assignments, and formative assessment. We analyze performance data and show that high-structure courses have a positive impact on class performance by ...

PENGARUH UKURAN PARTIKEL SERBUK EVAPORATION BOATS DALAM PEMBUATAN KOWI (CRUCIBLE) TERHADAP KEKUATAN IMPACT DAN STRUKTUR MAKRO

open access: yesRekayasa Mesin, 2023
Kowi or crucibles come from refractory materials. This study aims to determine the effect of the powder particle size of evaporation boats on impact resistance and macro structure. The research method used is experimental research.

High-Resolution Simulations of a Moon-Forming Impact and Post-Impact Evolution [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J. 638 (2006) 1180-1186, 2006
In order to examine the ``giant impact hypothesis'' for the Moon formation, we run the first grid-based, high-resolution hydrodynamic simulations for an impact between proto-Earth and a proto-planet. The spatial resolution for the impact-generated disk is greatly improved from previous particle-based simulations.
