Network Structure Explains the Impact of Attitudes on Voting Decisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Attitudes can have a profound impact on socially relevant behaviours, such as voting. However, this effect is not uniform across situations or individuals, and it is at present difficult to predict whether attitudes will predict behaviour in any given ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Impulsive Motion Inside a Cylindrical Cavity

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
Experimental studies of supercavitating models moving at speeds in the range from 400 m/s to 1000 m/s revealed a regime of bouncing motion, in which the rear part of an axisymmetric body periodically bounces against the free boundaries of the supercavity.

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Comment on Nasir et al. The Mahout Structure in the Central Desert of Oman: A Possible Simple Impact Crater. Geosciences 2023, 13, 363

open access: yesGeosciences
A possible impact crater at Mahout in Oman was recently proposed by Nasir et al. (2023 [1]). They alleged that “crater” morphology, shatter cones, shock metamorphic evidence in quartz, plagioclase, and calcite, as well as initial geochemical information ...

Multiscale Geoelectrical Properties of the Rochechouart Impact Structure, France

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2021
The 205 Ma Rochechouart impact structure (France) is characterized by various impactite formations overlying the Hercynian crystalline basement. New constraints from downhole logging and surface electrical resistivity measurements along >100 m long ...

Proposed Miami Impact Crater Identified as a Solutional Doline of Oolictic Limestone [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Washington Academy of Sciences, Fall 2020, Volume 106, No. 3, 2020
This investigation addresses the discovery of a proposed impact crater located off the coast of Miami, FL under the North Atlantic Ocean. A preliminary analysis of bathymetry data obtained from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration implied a morphology consistent with a complex crater produced by a hypervelocity impact event of ...

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

System for determining the angle of impact of an object on a structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A method for determining the angle of impact of an object on a thin-walled structure which determines the angle of impact through analysis of the acoustic waves which result when an object impacts a structure is presented.

Impact parameter dependence of parton densities at low x [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We consider impact parameter dependence of the polarized and unpolarized parton densities. Unitarity does not allow factorization of these structure functions over the Bjorken x and the impact parameter b variables.
