Density Functional Theory-Based Indicators to Estimate the Corrosion Potentials of Zinc Alloys in Chlorine-, Oxidizing-, and Sulfur-Harsh Environments

open access: yesMolecules
Nowadays, biodegradable metals and alloys, as well as their corrosion behavior, are of particular interest. The corrosion process of metals and alloys under various harsh conditions can be studied via the investigation of corrosion atom adsorption on ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Assessment of the Influence of Chemical Composition, Atomic Distribution, and Grain Boundaries on Heat Transfer in Refractory High-Entropy Alloys Hf–Nb–Ta–Zr Based on Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesCrystals
This work investigates the influence of chemical composition, grain boundary (GB) type, and atomic distribution on the thermal conductivity of Hf–Nb–Ta–Zr refractory high-entropy alloys (RHEAs) via atomistic simulations.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Distributional Impacts of the Self-Sufficiency Project [PDF]

open access: yes
A large literature has been concerned with the impacts of recent welfare reforms on income, earnings, transfers, and labor-force attachment. While one strand of this literature relies on observational studies conducted with large survey-sample data sets,
