Neurotrophic Signaling, Sleep Physiology, and Retinal Neuroprotection: Integrative Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications for Glaucoma

open access: yesSensory Neuroscience, EarlyView.
Glaucoma is increasingly understood as a neurodegenerative disorder shaped by sleep and circadian physiology, not intraocular pressure alone. Sleep loss and obstructive sleep apnea suppress BDNF–TrkB neurotrophic signaling, impair sleep‐dependent glymphatic clearance, and trigger microglial neuroinflammation and vascular insult at the optic nerve head,

Predictability of obstructive sleep apnea with a somesthetic screening score: Development and preliminary validation in a prospective study

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
This prospective study developed a two‐step clinical scoring system for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) screening based on patients’ somesthetic perception of oropharyngeal airflow. The Intermediate Score (IS ≥ 7.5) achieved 73% sensitivity and 77% specificity (AUC = 0.7754; OR = 8.96).

Artificial intelligence in out‐of‐hospital sleep monitoring: Bridging polysomnography and wearable signals

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Polysomnography (PSG), the reference standard for sleep assessment, has limited scalability for large‐scale screening, driving the development of wearable and unobtrusive monitors. However, the physiological signals these devices capture are physiologically correlated with PSG channels but are not completely equivalent.

A More Realistic Endogenous Time Preference Model and the Slump in Japan [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents a more realistic endogenous time preference model, incorporating the property that impatience decreases as consumption increases. The model overcomes a serious drawback of the existing model, which needs the assumption of increasing ...

Salient Rewards, Payoff Protocols and Biased Data

open access: yesSouthern Economic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paying salient rewards to subjects is expensive. Is it worth it? We describe previous data from otherwise identical treatments with hypothetical or salient payoffs that indicate opposite conclusions about the central research question in a paper. If we are going to pay salient rewards, how should we? The answer depends on the theoretical model

Language Teacher Educator Identity, Wellbeing and Agency Nested in a Community of Practice: A Collaborative Autoethnography

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
In this collaborative autoethnography, we, as three university‐based language teacher educators in Türkiye, explore how our community of practice (CoP) acted as a catalyst in navigating our identity tensions, boosting our wellbeing and contributing to our agency.

Irreversible investment under weighted discounting: effects of decreasing impatience [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper employs an intra-personal game-theoretic framework to investigate how decreasing impatience influences irreversible investment behaviors in a continuous-time setting.
