Podosphaera balsaminae was recorded for the first time in Argentina and apparently in the Americas, causing powdery mildew on Impatiens balsamina (balsam) and Impatiens × hawkeri (New Guinea impatiens). This is also the first record of P. balsaminae on New Guinea impatiens.
