Identifying rate limitation and a guide to design of fast‐charging Li‐ion battery

open access: yesInfoMat, 2020
Fast‐charging is highly demanded for applications requiring short charging time. However, fast‐charging triggers serious problems, leading to decline in charge acceptance and energy efficiency, accelerated capacity degradation, and safety risk.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Robot Perception of Impedance.

open access: yesJournal of the Robotics Society of Japan, 2003
This paper describes an algorithm for robot perception of impedance, by which motion-force relation of the robot's end-effector during arbitrary motion is analyzed on-line. Using this method, the impedance that constrains the robot's motion is estimated; the uncertainties of the estimates are evaluated; and discontinuous changes of the impedance are ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Decoding the dynamic extracellular matrix in cancer—3D models and bioscaffolds rewire the rules of tumor progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer progression is regulated by the dynamic matrix code of the tumor microenvironment, which influences cellular behavior and disease development. Importantly, matrix remodeling in three‐dimensional cancer models more accurately reflects in vivo conditions compared to conventional two‐dimensional systems.

On the Passivity Based Impedance Control of Flexible Joint Robots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this work a novel type of impedance controllers for flexible joint robots is proposed. As a target impedance a desired stiffness and damping are considered without inertia shaping.

Cartesian Impedance Control on Five-Finger Dexterous Robot Hand DLR-HIT II with Flexible Joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents an impedance controller for five-finger dexterous robot hand DLR-HIT II, which is derived in Cartesian space. By considering flexibility in finger joints and strong mechanical couplings in differential gear-box, modeling and control ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...
