Enhancing and Impeding Heterogeneous Ice Nucleation through Nanogrooves
The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2018In this work, we investigate the effects of nanogrooves on heterogeneous ice nucleation (HIN) through molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that nanogrooves on a surface significantly alter the ice nucleation rate by more than 2 orders of magnitude.

Ultra‐wideband microstrip antenna with enhanced impedance bandwidth
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2010AbstractThis article presents a novel ultra‐wideband (UWB) microstrip‐fed planar monopole antenna composed of a rectangular patch and a ground‐plane π‐shape slot structure. Impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is ∼147% over an UWB frequency range between 3 and 19.7 GHz satisfying FCC's requirements for an antenna by a factor in excess of twofold.

Analog Front-End Input-Impedance Boosting Techniques for Bio-Potential Monitoring—A Review
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and MeasurementPhysiological information provided by bio-potential signals is essential and pivotal for biomedical sensors. As the first stage in the signal chain of the sensor, impedance matching of the analog front-end (AFE) is critical for determining signal ...

Enhanced impedance bandwidth of microstrip antennas using coupling
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2003AbstractThis paper presents measured results for the improved bandwidth of a microstrip antenna using coupling techniques in conjunction with matching circuits. The proposed technique is applied to probe‐fed and aperture‐coupled microstrip antennas.

Chinese Culture and Value: Enhancing or Impeding Innovation?
2015Chapter 2 gives a clear picture of the facts of Chinese innovation, both in terms of invention as patent registration, and organizational innovation as product, process and strategy. Once “China-also innovates” is evidenced as showed in Chapter 1, one may wonder whether that is a generic phenomenon or a specific individual case.

Do political connections enhance or impede corporate innovation?
International Review of Economics & Finance, 2019Abstract We establish a comprehensive political connection index based on manually collected personal profiles of top firm managers or board members to examine the contribution of political connections to corporate innovation and the channels of this relation. Our results indicate that politically connected firms tend to have more innovation than non-

Enhance electrical impedance tomography with magnetic readings
Abstract: Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) employs alternating current and voltage measurements to perform medical imaging of the patient's respiration. EIT is safe, non-invasive, and cost-effective but suffers from low spatial resolution and poor sensitivity away from the electrode locations.Battistel, A. +5 more

Printed Cactus Monopole Antenna with Enhanced Impedance Bandwidth
2019 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, 2019Previously proposed "cactus" designs of wideband printed monopoles reported impedance bandwidths of 1:4. Here, the "cactus" topology is re-designed to enhance the impedance bandwidth to 1:8 with moderately increased electrical size. The proposed antenna is printed on an 18 cm by 15 cm FR-4 substrate.
